This project will explain how to install the cupholder/cubby from a Chrysler Lebaron into your Chrysler TC by Maserati. You can click on any of the pictures to see a larger version.

Tools required:

3/8 inch nut driver

#2 Phillips screwdriver

Hacksaw

Sandpaper

Utility Knife

Optionally: Dremil Tool

Skill Level:

I would say on a scale of 1 to 5, this project is a 2

Preparation:

The stock Lebaron cup holder does not slide out far enough to be usable in the TC. You need to do some minor modifications.

Note: In the June 2004 TC America Newsletter, Hemi Anderson offers "a cup holder assembly, ready for installation" you can give him a call @ (805) 216-9257

1) Obtain the cup holder assembly from a Lebaron, use your imagination, most junk yards have lots of these

2) Remove the upper screw attachment tabs

3) File/Sand the rear of each rail side to remove the notches that limit how far the cupholder can travel

4) Enlarge the length of the top travel limit grove. I did this my cutting with a utility knife, a dremil tool would probably do a better job.

5) Optionally install some black adhesive felt to the inside of the cupholder to keep things from sliding around and add that touch of class.

You're done with the hard part!

Installing into the TC

1) Remove the two screws holding the leather covered lower bezel

2) Remove the two screws in the faux wood upper bezel

3) Move the bezel to the right and then pull it forward

4) Remove the four screws holding in the cubby ( there is one hidden below the cubby )

5) Slide out the old cubby

6) Reach back and make sure the area behind the cubby is clear. There is a relay back there that loves to get in the way

7) Insert your new cubby/cupholder

8) Install the four screws used to hold the cubby.

NOTE: The cubby screws are long, the bezel screws are short

9) Reinsert the upper bezel you might have to flex it a little bit

10) Screw in the two upper bezel screws

11) Reinstall the lower bezel

12) Screw in the two screws into the left and right of the lower bezel

13) Test your work with the beverage of your choice

All done! Don't forget to leave the holder tucked in when it's not in use as it does rub a little against the leather.
